7 Essential Oil Recipes I Can’t Live Without

Hello friends! Today I want to share with you some of my favorite DIY products with essential oils. I started making some of my own household products with essential oils when I was pregnant with my daughter 3 years ago and I can’t imagine living without them now.

They’re so quick and easy to make, work really well, and save you a boatload of money! You also get piece of mind in knowing that you don’t have harsh and dangerous chemicals laying around.

The measurements can be adjusted based on your preferences, especially with the essential oils, but a little goes a long way. 😊 Also, I use coconut oil but you can use any carrier oil of your choice. Avocado oil is a great alternative, especially if you have nut allergies in the family.

My personal favorite for essential oils is Plant Therapy. They’re high quality and really affordable, and they’re a family owned and operated company,  really dedicated to the well being and satisfaction of their customers.

I’ve replaced a ton of everday products with essential oils but I’ve narrowed them down to my top 7 for today. So here we go!

Foaming hand soap~

I love making my own hand soap. There are so many variations. You can get creative with different essential oils and create a range of blends. Antibacterial, relaxing, energizing, etc… You can re-use a store bought foaming hand soap dispenser or buy one here if you’d like. Here are my 3 faves…

1/2 cup Castile soap

1/2 cup melted Coconut Oil

1/4 cup water

2 squirts Vegetable glycerine (optional)

20-30 drops Lemon essential oil

Lavender ~

1/2 cup Castile soap

1/2 cup melted Coconut oil

1/4 cup water

2 squirts Vegetable glycerine (optional)

20-30 drops Lavender essential oil

Immune Boosting ~

1/2 cup Castile soap

1/2 cup melted Coconut Oil

1/4 water

2 squirts Vegetable glycerine (optional)

20-30 drops Plant Therapy Germ Fighter

(Smells amazing!)

Combine all ingredients in your dispenser, replace the nozzle and shake vigorously.

Floor Cleaner~

3 cups water

1/2 cup white vinegar

20 drops Lemon essential oil

10 drops Tea Tree essential oil

20 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil

The 3 essential oils I use here, Lemon, Tea Tree (also known as Melecula) and cinnamon bark, are my favorite for cleaning. Lemon is a wonderful all purpose cleaner with a great fresh scent, Tea Tree is antibacterial and antifungal (an amazing EO!), and cinnamon bark is antibacterial as well and smells great. They all have countless uses and benefits!

I like the Libman reusable mop (you can find it in your local supermarket) because you can make your own solution and it has a cleaning pad that you can throw in the washer and re-use. If you prefer to use a traditional mop and bucket though, that would work fine too. 😊

Kitchen/Glass Cleaner~

This stuff is great for all of your kitchen surfaces. I also absolutely love it for cleaning glass, doesn’t leave a single streak!

Fill a 16 oz Glass Spray Bottle halfway with water and add:

1/4 cup white vinegar

20 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil

Produce wash ~

Fill a 16 oz Glass Spray Bottle halfway with water and add:

1/4 cup white vinegar

20-30 drops Lemon essential oil

Spray your fruit and vegetables, let it sit for a couple of minutes and rinse thoroughly with water.

Sleepy time Blend ~

My toddler loves this! She calls it her “pretties” and puts it on like perfume 😍

Fill a rollerball bottle halfway with melted coconut oil (tip: go very slowly, it fills up quickly. I found this out the hard way, yikes!) Then add 5 drops Lavender essential oil and 3 drops Roman Chamomile essential oil and give it a little shake.

You can adjust it a bit to your preference but the Roman chamomile is very strong and can overpower the lavender. They smell amazing together though! By far, one of my all time favorite blends. I dab some on my toddlers neck (and mine!) and it helps calm her down and ease into sleep. Another great option is to fill a 16 oz glass spray bottle with water and add 10-20 drops Lavender and 5-10 drops Roman Chamomile and spray your bedding before climbing in at night. Incredibly relaxing!

Ant Repellent ~

I can’t possibly tell you how much I love this stuff! If you have those annoying little sugar ants, or any ants, this spray will be your best friend!

Fill a 16 oz Glass Spray Bottle 3/4 full with water, add 30 drops or so of Peppermint essential oil, give it a shake and spray your windowsills, doorways, and anywhere you notice ants, a couple times a day and give those little buggers the boot for good!

Sunburn Remedy~

This one is a life-saver! It provides instant relief from even severe sunburns. In fact, Lavender is fantastic for all burns, it’s a great analgesic (pain reliever).

Fill a 16 oz pump bottle about 3/4 full with melted Coconut Oil (or carrier oil of choice), add 20-30 drops Lavender essential oil. Gently apply to sunburned area.

Frankincense essential oil is fantastic for bruises!

This one isn’t a recipe but if you rub about 5 drops or so of Frankincense on a bruise 3 times a day, after a few days you will see an incredible difference. It speeds up the healing process like crazy!

Those are all for today, but I’m sure I’ll have another post of some more faves soon! I really hope you find these usefull and enjoy them!
